Campaign Update: Absentee Ballots to Arrive Soon
October 10, 2006

If you are a permanent vote-by-mail voter, you will receive your ballot in the next few days. As a great many people vote by absentee, I want to make sure to be given a chance to earn your vote. If you have any questions as to where I stand on the issues that are not answered here -- please contact me at rogeraceves@mac.com and I would be happy to write back or give you a phone call so that we can have a conversation about where I stand.
If you are voting by mail....
- Vote for the one, two or up to three candidates you support for Goleta City Council. You do not have to vote for a full slate.
- Make sure to follow the directions included with your vote-by-mail ballot and remember to sign and date the back of the envelope.
- Make sure your vote counts by making sure the Elections Office or any polling place receives your ballot, by hand or by mail, by 8:00 pm on November 7, 2006.
This council race will be very close and the infusion of out-of-town developer contributions has already affected the race. My approach is to be a moderate and open to all sides of the issue -- this means you won't see these kind of donations to my campaign. I'm confident that the residents of Goleta will see through the mail they receive which either attack specific candidates or promote the kind of development we don't want in our city. They understand that we need to manage our rate of growth yet keep a keen eye on creating affordable housing that still protects our existing neighborhoods from over-development. If I can be your first and only, second or third vote -- I would be honored to receive your support.
