Goleta Council Member Roger Aceves Garners Third Law Enforcement Endorsement before July Filing Deadline


Goleta City Council Member Roger Aceves announced today that Santa Barbara County Firefighters Local 2046 has endorsed his campaign for re-election. The organization, which represents working men and women firefighters in the city of Goleta, joins the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association in endorsing Aceves’ campaign before the candidate filing deadline in July.

“I’m proud to have been endorsed by the two major law enforcement organizations that represent working firefighters and police officers in the City of Goleta,” said Aceves.

Aceves’ credentials with law enforcement are based in almost 30 years in the field before he became a council member. He began his career in the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department and finished his law enforcement career at the Police Department for the City of Santa Barbara. Aceves is a graduate of the prestigious Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) National Academy in Quantico, Virginia. He received his second H. Thomas Guerry Award in 1994 for successfully negotiating the 21-hour Joseph Segura hostage siege.

The Santa Barbara County Firefighters Local 2046 and the Deputy Sheriffs’ Association joins the Santa Barbara Airport Peace Officer's Association; Tri-Counties Labor Council, Sheet Metal Workers International, Local 273; Ironworkers AFL-CIO, Local 433 and 416; and, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Locals 413 in making an early endorsement.
