Police Officer and Goleta City Council candidate Roger Aceves announced today that he has received the support of the Santa Barbara Womens Political Committee and the Planned Parenthood Action Fund this past week. Unlike most local election endorsements, both organizations chose not to endorse all three incumbents running for reelection.

Aceves also earned the endorsement of First District Supervisor Salud Carbajal and Santa Barbara City Council Member Brian Barnwell in recent weeks.

"My campaign is about change", said Aceves, "and it recognizes that there are more issues in this race than the growth policies of the present council".

Aceves, who has taken a moderate stance on growth in comparison to the incumbents running for reelection, feels Goleta doesn't have the infrastructure to handle the pro-growth agenda espoused by the other two challengers in the race. He believes that what growth that occurs should be in the form of revitalizing Old Town and finding creative ways to bring more low to moderate affordable housing to the city.

"We are a city that after five years, is only now beginning to finalize a General Plan and create a Planning Commission", continued Aceves,"now is the time to work on expanding our Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments, making a more community-based approach to law enforcement, and finding new ways to generate income as a city that is not dependent on growth".
